Science teacher Ramon Hernandez joins the MPHS staff with a Bachelors degree from Texas A University in Biomedical science. He is a first year teacher.
Kristi C. Houchin joins MPHS as the campus nurse. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing, is married to Chris Houchin and the mother of Makayla and Raegan Houchin.

Janelle Davis joins MPHS as a tenth grade English teacher and coach. in communication from East Texas Baptist University.
Hernandez is engaged to Angela Vargas of Mount Pleasant, and he has one child, Joseline Odette Hernandez, age two. He is the son of Eliodore and Eva Hernandez of Mount Pleasant.
"I am very excited to be working in this school district," Gamblin said. He is married to Tammy Gamblin, a junior high teacher at the Mount Vernon ISD, and the couple has two children: Will, 11, and Rynn, seven. His hobbies include bow hunting and raising quarter horses.
She is a graduate of MPHS (class of 1999), and is involved with the Special Olympics as a coach.
Guzman is the daughter of Salvadorian parents Juan and Digna Guzman and the sister to two younger brothers, Isaac Guzman and Alex Guzman.
Roy Gatlin is a first year World Geography teacher/coach for MPHS. in Kinesiology from Lamar University.

Catherine Moss joins MPHS as a Special Education teacher. She said she has been employed with the district for four years, but this is her first year as a teacher.
She added she "loves working with children."
Acker is the daughter of Randy and Ronda Acker of Mount Pleasant, and the granddaughter Dan and Anita Acker of Mount Pleasant and Judy and Dwight Drake of Winnsboro. from Sam Houston State University. He also serves as the defensive coordinator and head baseball coach. He is the son of 30 year educator Ernastine Belt and Don Belt of Mount Pleasant.
Becky Bradshaw comes to MPHS as a special education teacher. She has a Masters degree with administrative certificate, and ten years experience in special education.

She is a native of Mount Pleasant, a MPHS graduate, and the single parent of three children: Derek, who is currently attending Lamar University, Emily, who is attending Texas State University in San Marcos, and Dalton, a MPHS junior.
"I am dedicated to equip every student I teach with the knowledge, discipline and skills to achieve their academic goals," Hernandez said. He added that he has a "desire to build a rapport and an environment that is stimulating and challenging to encourage each student to reach their highest potential."
Moss has been married to Jeremy Moss of Mount Pleasant for 11 years, and is the daughter of William and Yvonne White of Mount Pleasant.
She said she is excited to be back in her hometown working next to her former teachers and coaches.
Gary Holt, a 20 year veteran teacher, joins the MPISD as a teacher and coach. He said he is an "avid outdoorsman" and has three children: Chris, 17, Jordan, 16, Puma Navy Blue Sneakers and Ryan, 12.
He added, "I am excited to be joining the esteemed faculty and staff of MPISD."
Gloria M. Guzman, a two year veteran teacher joins MPHS to teach Spanish II, III, and IV. from East Texas Baptist University
She said she took the last three years off and "missed it terribly, so now I am back working with special education students."
"I grew up here and love this community. I am excited about being back here and to become an active participant in the education of the students," Acker said "I believe that anyone can learn and succeed, regardless of life situation. I love reading and I think books can charge culture. I hope I can affect my students' lives as positively as teachers did when I attended MPHS."
